New settlers
the corded ware culture 2500-2000 bC

Towards the end of the Stone Age a new population arrived in Finland, most probably from the present-day Baltic countries. The material culture of these colonists differed from the artefacts made and used by the indigenous population. Characteristic objects of the new settlers were so-called battle axes and pots decorated with cord impressions, whose forms and style differed from Comb Ware tradition.
The Corded Ware population has been described as a belligerent people who used the battle-axe as a combat weapon.
